A three hour clinic for all athletes from 8th-12th grade on how to lead better, to perform to the best of their ability, and to develop the mindset of champion.
Improve communication strategies and become a positive influence
Learn the tools that will increase your concentration and consistency
Upgrade your mindset and dominate the competition in sport and in life
Student-Athletes will be challenged to dive into who they are and what they believe. These two factors dictate their values and are manifested through the habits they have and the internal rules they use to make decisions. Using interactive lectures and engaging activities, we will discuss the communication triad (verbal, physical, and digital) and consider what it means to lead the self first, earn the voice, then use it to positively influence those around them.
At UTA, we teach that "a mentally tough athlete is able to access their talent at the highest level they are capable on a consistent basis regardless of the situation." Student-Athletes will learn the fundamental pillars of sport psychology and the strategies the pros use to consistently perform at their highest ability.
We believe every day is a competition. With content inspired (and sometimes delivered!) by Jake Thompson of competeeveryday.com, we teach that being a competitor is more than just the result of a game or match, but that being a competitor is the "why" that pushes an athlete through the pain. We should all strive to be our best and to compete every day. Mediocrity is not an option.
This clinic works best on a Saturday morning or a weekday afternoon. It can be for a single team, all athletes in a single sport, or the entire athletic program.
Students receive a workbook to take notes during this three-hour clinic, as well as some ideas to share with parents on how to help their child follow up on what was learned. Immediately following the clinic is a 45-minute discussion with coaches on how to implement the ideas presented and build from the knowledge the student-athlete now has.
